Sophia's 2nd birthday!

Another year has come and gone. My baby girl, I'm sorry my big girl, is now a two year old.

I find it hard to believe and to be honest I'm a little sad. My first baby is really no longer a baby.

She has grown into such a big girl these past two years. It's hard to believe she was ever that tiny baby I was handed. Instead she's a feisty independent little girl.

Happy Birthday Sophia!

The most handsome little boy was born.

It's hard to believe an entire year has passed already. Even though his first days home are kind of blurry I remember bits and pieces.

I remember sleeping in the recliner because we didn't want to put a newborn in with our one year old. I remember Sophia wanting nothing to do with him at first and then slowly becoming interested in poking and touching him.

Now he's a whole year old. He says words (no, baby, vroom, stop, momma), he's earned himself the nickname turbo baby because of how fast he crawls, and he's taken a few tentative steps here an there. He is madly in love with his sister who loves him or hates him depending on how the wind blows.

Happy birthday little man.

31 weeks!

I am officially 31 weeks right now.

That means I have 8 weeks until the birth of Simon. Why does that seem like such a short time? 2 months really. I guess because I've been pregnant for so long I forget it does come to an end.

In 2 short months I will be the mother of a 2 year old, a 1 year old and a newborn. 1 feisty little girl, 1 sweet but adventurous little boy, and a 1 little boy who's going to have to do some major kicking and screaming to phase me after all this.

I promise I'll find time to do another belly shot, my last one was 4 weeks ago.

A birthday party for 2!

On the 14th we held Sam and Sophie's birthday party at my parents house.

It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Of course they did get a ton of new toys to play with.

Of course not to disappoint, with parties come pictures!

That was pretty much their party in a nutshell. Sophie picked at her cake and Sam utterly destroyed his. Oh and toys...

Pictures!

I know I haven't updated in a a while. I'll get around to that I promise!

But first pictures!

We took the kids for some pictures at the end of June. My kids are pretty cute if I do say so myself

Don't worry there's more to come!

Name change

After some discussion both Carl and I have come to the conclusion that for as much as we loved the name Saul its not the name of #3.

We've decided that he will actually be name Simon Nathaniel. I feel like it flows better as a whole and sounds better with our other childrens' names.

Introducing!

I would like to introduce my newest blog: At Home with Momma

This blog is where I'll be blogging about my journey of teaching my children to love learning.

As of right now there are only 4 posts but I will be adding at least weekly (I hope to!) from now on.

I separated this into a different blog to keep things organized. While my blogs will be linked to one another they are two different blogs. This is to make it easier for people who have found me seeking ideas about learning aren't bombarded with my mundane everyday posts. It will also help keep me accountable as I work with my little ones.

Some potty success

Sophia is at the age in which doctors, friends and websites are prompting us to potty train her.

In the past she's shown some interest in it but she would do well and then begin resisting. I have no interest in pushing her so we let her lead the way.

Today at 2:10 today she found a pair of big girl underwear and asked to wear them. I figured what the heck, I was expecting maybe 10-15minutes of dryness from her but I let her try anyway.  So we sat her on the potty, she didn't go, but she got the underwear.

She surprised me that one.  She remained dry and at about 3:30, 4:30, and 5:30 she peed on the potty. At 5:50 I sat her one last time before putting a diaper on her for bed.

She did so well today.

I'll offer her underwear tomorrow but if she does diapers oh well, at least I can see she understands whats going on.

If she does keep it up I'll be extremely surprised and happy. Also there's not much cuter than a chubby little toddler in underwear!

Linus

Anyone who has been alive since Charles Schulz began drawing the Peanuts cartoon should know who Linus is.

Linus is the blanket toting exceptionally bright friend of Charlie Brown.

So ladies and gentlemen I present to you the real Linus

A small fun fact: Linus is Lucy's younger brother and Rerun is his younger brother. Weird.

Viability

In a few short minutes I will be 24 weeks pregnant.

If you've been pregnant recently or know someone who has been you may have heard of the term "viability." This word means so much to many of us who are pregnant. At 24 weeks a fetus is consider viable meaning that doctors are to preform procedures to save the life of a child born at this gestational age.

The survival rate for a baby born at 24 weeks is between 40-70% dependent on factors (gender, weight, etc.) Statistically white males do fair worse when born premature.

Despite the promise of a chance no one actually wants their child born at this age, I certainly don't. But it is still a comforting though considering my history of preterm labor with Sam.

24 weeks also means I have 15 short weeks (remember I will be taken for a repeat at 39 weeks provided I don't go into labor on my own) left until Saul makes an appearance. This is a little terrifying to me.

Of course between now and then I have my anniversary, my birthday, Samuel's 1st birthday, and Sophia's 2nd birthday among other things so I have no doubt those 15 weeks will move extremely quick.

There really isn't much to do. The biggest will be moving Sam unto the same bedroom as Sophie. Other than that we're putting on new bedding for Saul and getting a few items that didn't survive Samuel.
